Inspiration
We wanted to create a platform that could help students with a common everyday problem. After identifying that students do not have time to socialize due to studying, we decided to create a platform on which students can study and socialize.
What it does
BuddyUp is a first-of-its-kind web app that allows students to find their perfect study partner based on their study goals and preferences.
How we built it
We used React for the front-end and MongoDB and API to make calls to our database. Regarding designing, we used Figma.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge that we ran into was being able to get functional API calls to the Mongo database.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The BuddyUp team is proud of the website we made. This is the first time everyone on the team has worked on web development and designing. We were able to learn a lot about web development and designing within these two days.
What we learned
This was the first time everyone on the team had worked on web development. Many of us learned how to use Figma for the first time and how to use and implement the design using React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.
What's next for BuddyUp
There is great scalability potential with BuddyUP. Currently, BuddyUp is a platform to connect people based on study preferences but we can extend this community to other aspects of life like exercising and eating. BuddyUp hopes to encourage students to seek social connection in all aspects of life.
