Buddy is an app platform that offers female University students another female student when walking at night. It helps connect female college students who are leaving events or classes (mainly at night) with other female students to promote safety by not having to walk alone.
Georgia State University is a commuter school with a large population of female students living off-campus and taking public transportation such as MARTA. GSU is an open campus in downtown Atlanta where criminal records remain incredibly high. Although the campus is infiltrated with policemen roaming the streets, weekly emails still indicate that it is unsafe to walk the streets at night. Through Buddy, students would be able to find nearby peers who are walking to the same destination or who are willing to drive them to their destination. If no students are available to accompany a student, Buddy ambassadors, who are trained to protect, would be easily available for students’ preference.
