Buddy System

Inspiration

Phishing is the huge threat to everyday people. I wanted to create a solution that empowers them to make more educated choices.

What it does

Buddy System is a security tool that any developer can add to their app with just one line of code. It uses Gemini AI to double-check suspicious messages and explain exactly how a scam works in plain English. Instead of just blocking a message, it gives users a step-by-step plan to stay safe or connects them to real help if they've already been targeted.

How I built it

I prioritized a RESTful architecture to ensure the API is scalable and easy for other developers to integrate. To avoid vague AI responses, I used prompt engineering techniques to ensure the /report endpoint delivers specific, high-context safety advice rather than generic warnings.

Challenges I ran into

This was my first time working on something like this, so I definitely ran into quite a few challenges. The biggest one was I deleted my initial files and had to restart.
