DESCRIPTION

A web app that helps students find study groups based on their courses. Students can either initiate a group or seek to join a study session.

CHALLENGES

  • We did not simplify the idea enough

  • We spent too much time developing ideas that were too complicated for a simple program made in 12 hours

  • We are unfamiliar with most of the programs that were introduced to us in this hackathon

WHAT WE LEARN

  • Web development: we built a functional (but unfinished) program even though we have never done web development before

  • We struggled during the Figma workshop but we managed to design a complete prototype

  • We learned 4 new languages! (python, javascript, html, css)

  • We learn how to organize a project and not to sidetrack from our main goal

WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER

  • We should have planned the program better and more simplified

  • It was very tiring, and unnecessary at times, for us to attend all workshops, because we have already known some of the concepts. Due to this, we could not focus on the last two workshops that were very relevant to our project today. Next time, we could evaluate the workshops better and only attend necessary ones to maximize our comprehension capability.

FUTURE PATHS

  • Actually implement the complete project according to the prototype

  • Implement more authentication

  • Add some more user stories:

  • As a user, I want to be able to create my account only after I verify with school email

  • As a user, I want to see other people’s profiles

  • As a poster, I want to send invitations to other classmates

  • As a poster, I want to receive notifications when a new seeker requests to join my group

  • As a poster, I want to be able to delete my study groups

  • As a poster, I want to remove a member from my study group

  • As a poster, I want to choose whether to accept a request to join my group or not

  • As a seeker, I want to be notified when my study group changes its information

  • As a seeker, I want to view a list of study groups filtered by courses
