Inspiration
We were inspired by children's book so we added live books for kids to learn from a bot into our already existing project for live learning in the virtual classrooms.
What it does
It allows anyone to learn and teach in an online video-conferencing and white-board based virtual classroom. Students can give mock tests, chat directly without showing phone numbers, and kids can learn from Live books for kids (voice-based assistance).
How we built it
We already had a live learning platform but it didn't have anything for kids so we built the app in Flutter while the backend is in Firebase and Google cloud. We built the assistance named "Rani', which will guide kids to learn. The assistance is built using On-Device speech detection to detect the kid's voice and Google text-to-speech to speak the sentences.
Challenges we ran into
We had some accuracy issues with the on-device speech detection engine when using the regional language such as 'Hindi' so we only focused on the English language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In the last 36 hours, we had built something as simple that even a 5yr old kid could use it for learning.
What we learned
We learned that books can be more interactive and fun if they are combined with voice assistance.
What's next for Buddhi App - Live Learning App
We are a startup and soon we will be launching and iterating this app with more stories and learning materials to our users.
