Inspiration

Demand for electric vehicles in Europe is increasing. But still, there are so many problems with electric cars, especially battery charging problems. There are a limited amount of charging stations and charging is possible only when the cars return to the charging station. In order to make the car available again, someone had to move to the location where the car was parked, take the car, and needed to bring it back to the charging station nearby. This takes too much labor, money, and time.

What it does

Overcharge is a web application that helps users to find the most suitable electrical vehicles nearby with a variety of offers.

First, it shows a map with stations and electrical vehicles nearby based on user location. Then it provides suitable offers based on the user's location and destination.

  1. The offers with a direct route
  2. The offers with "HotSwap"

The HotSwap is a new function that we provide, which allows users to use the routes with stopovers. It shows a user the nearest station with the most suitable car so that he/she can drive it to another station and change to a different car with enough battery rate. It allows the users to use the batteries of the electric cars more efficiently so that the battery can not be wasted. Sixt does not need to hire staffs, who drive around to charge the cars, through an incentive system. We also give the user incentives if he/she uses the HotSwap function. For example, discount on the ride.

How we built it

We used Typescript, NodeJs, and React for the front-end and back-end. For the database, we used Fauna-Database to store information about stations, cars, users, offers, and bookings. Also, we used the google maps platform API for routes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Thinking about a specific and creative idea and visualizing what we want in a short time.

What we learned

We have learned how to manage our time and tasks. Also, we learned to divide our tasks into details for efficient work.

What's next for Bucket-Charge

Our next goal is to provide a mobile user interface. Users will be able to gain convenience by using our services anytime, anywhere.
