Game Inspiration and Concept
The game is a simple yet engaging bubble-popping experience designed to provide a moment of pure relaxation and joy. Featuring a satisfying pop sound effect for every bubble and a soothing musical backtrack, it creates an atmosphere of calm and contentment. Players can track their progress with a built-in scoreboard, adding a light layer of challenge without overwhelming the serene experience. The inspiration behind the game was to create a space where players can step away from life's complexities, responsibilities, and worries. The act of popping bubbles offers a sense of satisfaction and peace, making it the perfect escape for a few tranquil moments. Whether you’re looking to unwind after a long day or simply enjoy a stress-free activity, this game delivers a delightful and therapeutic experience.
Technologies
- AWS Services:
- Amazon Q - Generated about half of the code
- Amazon S3 - stored all files and hosted static site
- Other Technologies:
- HTML, JavaScript - game was built entirely in vanilla html and JavaScript
- GitHub - automated main branch to update S3 Bucket and website
AWS Development Experience
- I leveraged Amazon Q the most by using their automated code suggestion system to make coding more efficient. By adding small, descriptive comments for context, I received relevant code suggestions that could be seamlessly inserted with a single keystroke. Especially since I didn’t have much experience with HTML Canvas, I saved lots of time, as I avoided frequent Google searches for canvas functions.
- Amazon Q would also match its suggestions to my commenting style, making them directly usable. Even when working with .yaml files, Amazon Q provided useful suggestions, though in certain cases, some manual modifications were necessary.
- Deployment of a static website was straightforward. With the active community and extensive tutorials available for AWS products, I could sync my GitHub main branch with an S3 bucket, streamlining my workflow.
- Overall, these tools and resources greatly enhanced my development efficiency, allowing me to develop from 0 code to a working website in a few days
Future Updates
- Add more screens to simulate a more normalized game experience: menu screen, game end screen, pause screen, free play
- Improve game accessibility on different devices
- Enhance user personalization with UI Buttons to pause, turn off music, change bubble generation etc.
