Inspiration
Everyone loves the oddly satisfying feeling of popping bubble wrap it's nostalgic, stress-relieving, and fun. I wanted to bring that simple joy into a digital format and turn it into a quick, playful game. The goal was to create something relaxing, lightweight, and instantly rewarding, while also experimenting with building fast using new AI-assisted tools.
What it does
The Bubble Wrap Game simulates the classic bubble-popping experience with a smooth, interactive interface. Players tap bubbles to “pop” them, score points, and enjoy the satisfying feedback. It’s designed to feel therapeutic while also giving users a small rush of fun each time a bubble disappears. The game is simple, fast to load, and works directly in the browser.
How we built it
I created this project using bolt.new, leveraging its AI-powered workflow to speed up development and prototype UI components. The front end is built with React, and the entire application runs on Next.js for performance and easy deployment. The bubble interactions, animations, and layout are all handled with lightweight, responsive React components to keep everything smooth across devices.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges included fine-tuning the popping animations to feel satisfying, making sure the bubbles reset properly, and ensuring the game remained responsive across screen sizes. Integrating AI-generated components from bolt.new with custom logic also required careful tweaking to make everything work seamlessly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of how quickly the concept came to life and how polished the final interaction feels. Using bolt.new helped accelerate the development process, and seeing the simple idea of digital bubble wrap turn into a functional, enjoyable experience was incredibly rewarding.
What we learned
I learned how to effectively combine AI-assisted development tools with traditional React/Next.js workflows. I also gained experience in designing small interactive UI elements, optimizing user feedback, and creating a satisfying micro-experience that feels good to use.
What's next for Bubble Wrap Game
Future plans include adding sound effects, multiple bubble sizes, timed challenges, leaderboard features, different themes, and maybe even haptic feedback on supported devices. The goal is to expand the game into a more dynamic, replayable experience while keeping the original “pop satisfaction” at the center.
