Inspiration
As students within the Computer Vision course at Ramapo we were motivated to implement webcams into our project. Through this project we chose to pursue the use of augmented reality which could take webcam feeds as the main component of our game. Making it fun and interactive for kids was a key focus throughout development.
Key accomplishment
This project is fully secure and public for users with an internet connection, webcam, and desktop device to be able to access and play. With the amount of time permitted we are happy with this accomplishment.
What we learned
Development of both face and hand gestures within MediaPipe Task Vision can prove to be rather tricky but most rewarding. Working under the time constraint we were able to manage our time and tasks well throughout the Hackathon showing good teamwork and communication are key to project development. Playing games such as ours is a unique and challenging experience which helps keep the mind active while debugging.
What's next for Bubble PoppAR
Implementing versions of Bubble PoppAR for mobile devices is the next step moving forward.
