Bubble (Main Challenge) and Financr (Housr Challenge)

[FOR HOUSR CHALLENGE, FINANCR]:

Inspiration

We were inspired by a fellow UoM Alumni trying to make student life better by making it more affordable, so we wanted to contribute to this with our own ideas and technological solutions towards this.

What it does

Allows you to create a contract and manage a rental plan between tenants and landlords, pay bills and rent, track your expenses, get valuable AI insight on personal spending trends, and receive points for paying bills on time, early, and consistently that can be redeemed for coupons.

How we built it

We used nodejs to create an efficient but effective platform in 24 hours, integrated easily within our javascript back and front end stack. We also used sqlite to have a quick database. This was a simple and strong framework for our idea.

Challenges we ran into

We had challenges working on seperate features on our own devices as when we had to merge our progress we had issues with our git branches and version control, and needed to rollback on some progress.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our Gemini AI integration into our app, getting valuable outputs from it that were effective at analysing a students expenses and providing budgeting overviews. We were also proud of getting a functioning payment platform done within 24 hours as a team.

What we learned

We learned how to handle version control better, and build strong back end frameworks under time stress and pressure that allowed us to continue developing in the right direction without needing to correct too much since we had established a solid plan from the beginning.

What's next for Financr (Housr Challenge)

Developing our UX interface further as well as creating more features that can scale up with the platform to be most convenient for students and their payment methods and behaviours.

What it does

Bubble creates a unique networking experience between multiple learning disciplines that don't usually have the chance to meet up through conventional events. It does this through our tag and point sorting algorithm to promote events outside of your social bubble!
