Inspiration
This is a British Sign Language AR effect. It’s created by using Geospatial in Adobe Aero.
A group of scientists and British Sign Language (BSL) users have collaborated to develop more than 200 new signs for environmental terms, including greenhouse gases and carbon footprint. This initiative is aimed at making discussions about climate change more accessible for deaf individuals. The introduction of these new signs will reduce the need for finger-spelling complicated terms during conversations about the environment.
There are three BSL option bubbles. These three options are Carbon footprint, Greenhouse gases, and Natural selection.
When users tap on the bubbles, a 3d peacock-like character will demonstrate BSL. Each sign instruction will appear in the bubble as well.
What it does
To learn the new climate change BSL by utilizing AR and Geospatial technologies.
How we built it
BSL is created by using Geospatial in Adobe Aero.
Challenges we ran into
The effect was relocated from the United Kingdom to Taiwan because of the distance barrier. I am currently living in Taiwan and couldn't record footage as required for submission in UK.
Original location: Scottish Sensory Centre Moray House School of Education & Sport University of Edinburgh Paterson’s Land, Holyrood Road Edinburgh EH8 8AQ
Relocation: Freedom Hall (Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall) 自由廣場(國立中正紀念堂) 100, Taipei City, Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of making a positive impact, sending rightness, and connecting everyone to the same horizon.
What we learned
I learned how to use Geospatial to pin an AR effect.
What's next for BSL
