Inspiration

This came from a everyday problem. As UCLA students, we've all had those moments where it's 10pm before a midterm and you're walking around campus just hoping to find a decent spot to sit down and study.

What it does

BruinStudy lets UCLA students filter campus study spots based on what they need in the moment. You pick your filters, hit 'Find Spots,' and it shows you the best matches. There's also a 'Surprise Me' button if you want the app to make a decision for you.

How we built it

Pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, no frameworks, no backend.

Challenges we ran into

Finding a filter system to work the way I wanted it to. I didn't want a user to use this website app and end up frustrated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Im proud of creating something my friends and I would use daily. It solve real problems on campus.

What we learned

I learned that the best ideas can come from within my experiences and others.

What's next for BruinStudy

When I have more time, I'd like to add more study spots in this website app. A map view would be a great feature for students to see how far they need to walk. That way, they don't have to navigate out of the app to check.
