Inspiration
For many students, college is the first time they begin to seriously go the gym and establish an exercise routine. However, most are completely unaware of the environmental impacts that doing so can have. Our website is made to help inform them of this.
What it does
When opening the website, the user is first presented with a page to log in, and if they don't have an account, they can create one. After signing in, they are asked to choose from certain fitness goals, how much time per day they can dedicate to exercise, and what times of the days of the week they can work out. Our program then outputs the environmental impacts of certain exercises based on where they do them.
How we built it
We built it in VS Code using html, css, and javascript.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge was learning how to use new programming languages. Because this was our first hackathon, we weren't accustomed to the time pressure, and struggled to create our program because of it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that we managed to create a functional website that can output meaningful advice from just a few simple inputs.
What we learned
We learned much of web development using html, css, and javascript, such as creating pages, connecting them, collecting user input, and analyzing it to output results of our algorithms.
What's next for Bruin Lifestyle
In the future, we plan on implementing the ChatGPT API to have our algorithm help recommend certain exercises to its users. Additionally, we hope to improve the UI to make it more user-friendly and visually appealing.
