Inspiration
This work draws inspiration from my own real-life growing-up experience—learning at a young age that I was not my mother's biological child. After that, love within the family gradually gave way to lies and arguments, and I left my mother with my father. My childhood home became a space filled with fear and fragmentation: broken vases, snapped mops, lurking malice. Only as an adult did I realize that much of the pain stemmed from love left unsaid. If I could travel through time, I would return to that home and tell my mother: Thank you for caring for me all those years. I love you too.
What it does
It's a story about love, family, and time travel
How we built it
From writing script to finishing editing, I spent around 2 weeks.
Challenges we ran into
During the production process, I was struggling Synchronizing Anime Character Lip Movements and How to ensure the pacing of this short film doesn't feel awkward
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is a 6-minute work. I put in a lot of passion and love to this work. I'm very proud of myself for telling a story that relates my childhood experience. This is not easy, but I wish more children and parents can learn to forgive and love.
What we learned
By translating my childhood memories into the surreal world of the Blu planet, I realized that animation can be a language for emotional truth
What's next for Bru's Journey Through Time
I want to make it a feature film.
