Brú Finance is creating a new paradigm of DeFi 2.5 by bringing Tokenized Emerging Market Asset-Backed Bonds to Decentralised Finance.

Coming from a family with links to farming, Ashish Anand, the CEO & Co-Founder of Brú Finance has witnessed the problems of farmers in getting the right prices for their crops first-hand. In 2018 while the founding team was working in the Blockchain space, tokenisation of real-world assets like real estate, equity etc on Blockchain was a hit topic with bringing liquidity to the ecosystem being the primary objective. We developed a thesis that tokenisation in itself can’t be a goal and will require lending protocols built around tokenised assets, way before even DeFi was a word and decided to apply the benefits of tokenised asset lending to solve the problems of farmers in getting better prices for their crop and access to finance using tokenised commodity finance to small farmers.

We first built Whrrl (www.whr.loans) in partnership with banks in India and are now extending the same platform to a DeFi lending at Brú Finance (www.Bru.finance) creating a global, borderless and bankless financial ecosystem that serves the un/underbanked population.

Brú Finance creates a bridged ecosystem of DeFi and CeFi through its integrated custodian-based real-world asset tokenization and decentralised lending solution. This helps in channelling the high yield-seeking capital from the developed world to the unbanked and the underbanked in emerging markets through an open, borderless and bankless system of finance secured by RWAs that reduces collection risk. Brú creates NFTs that are backed by real-world assets, stored with custodians and these NFTs are provided as collateral to lenders for borrowing against RWA NFTs. Onboarding real-world assets on DeFi is a major challenge which we are trying to solve by building meaningful partnerships with asset custodians.

Brú Finance’s strength lies in its Blockchain lending platform that has tokenised more than $600 Million worth of commodities in India and disbursed more than $5 Million of loans to 10,000 + small & marginal farmers against tokenised warehouses receipts in the last 12-18 months. Boasting of a clientele that includes Indian governments, banks and industry bodies, Brú Finance is recognised and supported by prestigious international organisations such as UNDP'’s SDGia, MassChallenge USA, University of Toronto and has won, awards and grants from organisations such as Indian Bank Association, Binance, FICCI etc.

Brú Finance has tokenized assets on the Testnets of Polygon, Rinkeby, and Binance smart chain. We will be going live on the main net in the third quarter of the year. We will also be expanding our operations in the international markets starting with South-East Asian, African and European Markets. By removing the current limitations of DeFi such as volatile interest rates, speculative asset focus et al Brú Finance opens the doors of decentralised finance to the unbanked and underbanked population across the globe and is on part to create a universal open banking system for financial inclusion leveraging the force of Blockchain.
