Hello everyone! Welcome to BrowserIQ! We built a Smart browser History as an additional feature to the existing Dex google extension.

What it does

So what does Smart Browser History or BrowserIQ actually do? BrowserIQ stores your raw searches into visuals, giving you a summary of your top searches, your interests and your specific browsing topics. Instead of scrolling through endless URLs, you instantly see your top search topics—helping you reclaim hours of lost time. Whether you’re a student juggling research for multiple papers, a professional tracking industry trends, or just someone who wants to remember that great recipe you found last week—BrowserIQ surfaces the content you need, right when you need it.

How we built it

For this project, we used Dex, TRAE Orchid, and Bolt.

For our project, we leveraged Orchids to build the website, TRAE was used for all of the data processing and some of the general backend, and both Dex and Bolt as our back-end frameworks, as we used the Chrome extension API to directly access the updated browser history. This is an extremely helpful tool because instead of digging through dozens of URLs, you instantly rediscover your most-visited subjects. We styled the site with Tailwind, ensured cross-browser compatibility, and added real-time hot-reload so every tweak—whether UI or ML—shows up instantly.

We then used the CSV files, processed the data into JSON files with fields like URL, Date/Time Accessed, Content of the URL (via web retrieval using Langchain), and Number of times accessed. Worried about privacy? Don’t! BrowserIQ has both hashmap encryption AND guardrails against web-scraping sites where there may be personal information. It will never attempt to access private data like passwords or addresses. Using this JSON file, we were able to find useful patterns, create graphs and retrieve general browsing history from whenever you want.

What's next for BrowseIQ

Our future plan is to add visualizations, heat maps, and graph views of your browsing journey.
