The internet is built for everyone, but that doesn't mean it's optimized for you. Most websites use a one-size-fits-all layout, often resulting in busy interfaces filled with sidebars and recommendations that don't align with your immediate goals.

Broom is an exploration in personalizing that experience, giving you the tools to curate the web into a space that feels right for your workflow.

Instead of accepting a standard layout, Broom lets you tuck away the elements you don't use. This is subtractive design: simplifying your digital environment to create a quieter, more intentional workspace. It turns the browser from a static delivery system into a flexible canvas that you can shape around your own aesthetic and functional needs.

The web should be a place you enjoy returning to. Think of it like your digital home: remove the distractions, add your own touch, and make the web feel less like a public space and more like your own private world.

How it works

Broom is a Manifest V3 browser extension. Its content script handles element picking, persistent per-hostname cleanup rules, page overlays, and local plant rendering. Rules are stored in browser-local storage and replayed on reloads and single-page applications. Plant artwork is bundled with the extension, and imported custom SVG packs are sanitized before rendering.
