Inspiration

In a world where the thirst for knowledge is more voracious than ever, we realized that the traditional methods of teaching and learning aren't enough. We were inspired by the potential of AI to personalize education, particularly for complex subjects like mathematics where visual learning can be significantly more impactful than text-based resources. The idea for Brontutor was born from a desire to bridge the gap between academic concepts and understanding by leveraging the power of AI to create dynamic, engaging, and educational content.

What it does

Brontutor is a cutting-edge AI tutor that revolutionizes the learning experience by converting textual explanations and mathematical problems into animated, easy-to-understand videos. It doesn't just tell you the solution—it shows you. By combining the conversational AI capabilities akin to ChatGPT with the visual prowess of Manim, Brontutor provides a unique educational tool that caters to the needs of visual learners, educators looking for teaching aids, and students who seek a deeper understanding of complex concepts.

How we built it

Our project harnesses the synergy between OpenAI's language models and the powerful mathematical animation engine, Manim, originally developed by 3Blue1Brown. We developed Brontutor on a robust stack, including a Svelte-based frontend for a sleek user experience and a Python backend where the magic happens. The prompts received from users are processed using AI to generate a script that Manim turns into a vivid, animated video guide, breaking down even the most intricate problems into digestible pieces.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest hurdles was ensuring seamless integration between the AI model and Manim. Converting textual data into an accurate and visually appealing mathematical format required meticulous tuning of both software components. Additionally, optimizing the rendering time of Manim animations without compromising on quality was a challenging aspect that pushed our team's problem-solving abilities.
