Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from the recent struggles with registering for classes for the fall semester of next school year.
What it does
Recommends a personalized schedule based upon the users personalized learning strategies, major, and classes already taken with suggestions on how well the schedule matches with their learning preferences.
How we built it
We used TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python, along with Cursor, Claude and a bit of Vercel v0.
Challenges we ran into
Properly filtering classes and data, getting the real time Cal Poly Pomona class data to work with, and comparing schedules with relevant classes with a realistic feel.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to hear that other students loved our idea and found it helpful when explaining our idea to them. Also, we are proud of actually being able to execute our idea and work together as a team.
What we learned
Optimizing workflows to get the best out of every team member and learning how to build a full product from beginning to end.
What's next for Bronco Compass
We hope to get real data on professor difficulty such as from RateMyProfessor or reputable sources. Or to be able to have students input their own experiences which can be used as data to help all students. We hope to get actual students to use our product.
