The idea for BritePass came from a deep frustration I’ve seen and felt: people are struggling to navigate their careers in an uncertain world. Whether it’s a young graduate unsure of where to start, someone returning to the workforce after years away, or a professional facing a major career shift — traditional CVs and job platforms just don’t cut it anymore.
I wanted to build something that helped people see their value clearly, understand their true potential, and move forward with confidence. That’s how BritePass was born — as a smarter, more empowering way to navigate work and worth.
BritePass is your personal career co-pilot. It helps you: • Uncover the real-world value of your skills • Get personalised salary insights based on your experience and profile • Discover new career paths and roles that match your strengths • Receive curated course recommendations to close skill gaps • Stay informed with live market trends in your domain or industry
It’s built for anyone at a crossroads — not just job seekers, but career shifters, freelancers, returners, and future builders.
I used a modern low-code approach to build BritePass quickly and iteratively: • Bolt.new for the front-end — fast, flexible, and perfect for rapid design • Supabase for user auth, real-time profile data, and edge functions • OpenAI API to power value calculations, career suggestions, and trend summarisation • Stripe to manage freemium and premium access • AsyncStorage for local caching and smooth offline access
I focused on creating an intuitive user journey, from onboarding to insights — and made sure the app felt personal, not generic.
There were plenty! For starters, I've never built an app before so the learning curve was a rock face! Some of the key challenges included: • Handling real-time syncing between local device state and Supabase — especially for cached premium insights • Building logic that worked for different user types with varying needs (graduates, freelancers, professionals) • Managing Stripe integration smoothly without disrupting user experience • Ensuring the UI stayed clean and consistent across platforms, especially on Android • Avoiding infinite refresh loops when users changed their domain and needed new market insights
Delivering a full working MVP in 7-8 weeks • Building a system that genuinely feels helpful and useful to potentially millions of people • Seeing users light up when they realise how much their skills are actually worth • Implementing a premium AI workflow that runs smoothly and delivers real value • Creating a foundation that’s scalable, cross-platform, and mission-driven
This project taught me how to: • Think and react in a specific logical framework, but to also get creative with solutions • Balance AI-driven logic with emotional UX design • Build a fully functioning mobile-first product using modern no-code tools • Translate raw profile data into real, actionable insight • Keep simplicity at the heart of even the most complex flows
I’m excited to keep evolving BritePass with: • Deeper skill gap analysis and learning journeys • Potentially direct integration with job market data and learning platforms • Gamified profile building using richer archetype insights and discovery tools • A full admin support dashboard as it scales • Community features to help users connect, mentor, and grow including referrals etc
My mission is to make BritePass the go-to platform for anyone who’s ever asked, “What am I worth — and what’s next for me?”
