Inspiration

The desire to transform the Museum in an extraordinary way and capture visitors' attention using the latest technologies.

What it does

The application works simply: by scanning a QR code next to a painting, the user is directed to a web link for the AR application. The app scans the paintings on the wall and overlays them with AI-powered video animations that bring the artwork, portraits, and people to life using the latest AI tools. This application was developed for the Museum of Vojvodina, Serbia.

How we built it

I used WebXR and A-Frame tools along with custom code. AI animations were integrated as videos into an image-tracking system, allowing the videos to play over the scanned images.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was authentically conveying the story behind the paintings and historical events in a way that resonates with a wider audience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a new and unique experience for museum visitors—this is the first project of its kind in our region.

What we learned

How to quickly and efficiently develop this type of application.

What's next for Bringing Museums to Life with AR and AI

The plan is to expand the application to Meta Quest 3 glasses in AR mode, where the paintings and videos will be displayed on real walls, and in VR mode, where videos will be shown in a virtual museum over the artworks.
