Briefly

Inspiration The Morgan & Morgan challenge highlighted how many repetitive tasks in law firms could be streamlined or improved through the use of AI agents. This inspired us to build the solution that could automate key processes and help lawyers focus on what really matters.

What it Does Briefly is an AI orchestrator designed to enhance efficiency and organization by seamlessly managing and processing case information for law firms. It’s built to handle everything from emails and texts to complex legal documents, making it easier for legal teams to stay on top of their work.

How We Built It The system was developed using Google ADK and A2A (Agent-to-Agent) communication. These technologies allowed us to create specialized AI agents that collaborate and manage tasks like case research, client communication, and more.

Challenges We Ran Into Being our first time using Google ADK, we faced several hurdles, with API authentication being the most significant issue. Our initial approach involved implementing the MCP tool to manage a PostgreSQL database, but we were unable to access the API. After pivoting to using Vertex AI for memory management, we hit the same roadblock. Additionally, we ran out of time to fully integrate our custom UI with the backend.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of Despite the challenges, we are proud to have produced a working final project. Given the setbacks, we weren’t sure we’d get to this point, so having a tangible product is a major achievement.

What We Learned Next time, we’ll focus on choosing technologies we are more familiar with to avoid roadblocks .

What's Next for Briefly While we've made progress, there are plenty of areas for improvement especially resolving the technical challenges we faced. Future work will focus on refining the system, enhancing its functionality, and integrating the frontend with the backend.
