Inspiration
Throughout my experience in various organizations, I have found myself entangled in multiple projects, leading to being added to numerous channels. The constant buzz of messages in these channels often resulted in me missing out on important information. It sparked an idea in my mind: why not create a solution that provides a daily summary of relevant channels? This inspiration motivated me to embark on the development of Briefly.
What it does briefly do?
Briefly is a Slack bot that provides concise and actionable digests from selected channels. Its main purpose is to help users stay informed and on top of their game by delivering relevant information without the noise of long messages and threads. It proves to be invaluable for higher officials, product managers, and all employees, as it lists action items and summarizes updates, feature launches, management announcements, and more. By using Briefly, users can prioritize tasks and avoid getting overwhelmed by the flood of messages in Slack. The bot offers the flexibility to customize the updates, allowing users to include only their preferred channels and receive them at their preferred time. Overall, Briefly empowers users to stay efficient and well-informed in their Slack communication.
How we built it?
We used
- Slack apis to build the slack app from scratch
- Used Nextjs for landing page
- Tidb for all the data needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We had the opportunity to co-pilot with a startup, and they found our product to be incredibly useful. It effectively addresses real-world problems, proving its value. As a result of this positive experience, we are now considering taking an entrepreneurial route to make this product accessible to a broader audience.
What we learned
We embarked on the journey of learning Tidb, a completely new concept for us. In addition to that, we also acquired video editing skills and honed our collaboration abilities.
What's next for Briefly
Encryption Layer: We are committed to ensuring the utmost security and privacy for our users. To achieve this, we will be implementing an encryption layer to protect messages and ensure that all communications remain confidential.
Expanded Content Sources: Our goal is to make Briefly a comprehensive information hub. To achieve this, we are planning to add more sources, such as app store and play store reviews, to the digest. By doing so, users will be able to stay informed about the latest app feedback and reviews, enabling them to gain valuable insights into their products and services.
