Inspiration

I read a lot of curated newsletters to get quick overviews of topics I care about. They save me hours of browsing through noise to find quality content. I wanted to make it easier for others to create similar newsletters. While there are other newsletter platforms out there, an AI-first approach with manual intervention specifically for curated newsletters felt like a gap worth filling.

What it does

AI-powered newsletter platform that automatically discovers, curates, and formats the latest industry insights into curated newsletters. Transform hours of research into polished content in minutes.

How we built it

Started with the basic idea of AI-powered newsletter curation Built multiple versions, scrapping ones that didn't feel right Used bolt.new for the main development and debugging, ChatGPT and Claude for alternate debugging and alternative approaches Focused on a simple workflow: input topics, get formatted newsletters

Challenges we ran into

API integration was a pain. Getting AI services to work reliably in bolt.new took multiple attempts. Each API had different quirks that weren't documented well. Managing my own expectations. I thought AI tools would handle more of the work automatically, but building something actually useful required constant human input and iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finally built a proper web app!

What we learned

The project taught me that AI-assisted development works, but you need patience and realistic expectations about what these tools can actually do.

What's next for BriefIQ

I hope I can make it better and find a few paying customers.
