🌟 Inspiration

Dartmouth is an incredible place — but like many colleges, it faces serious challenges with substance abuse and sexual violence. The SVPP (Sexual Violence Prevention Project) is an online program all students must complete to tackle these issues, offering crucial education on wellness, health, and safety.

The problem? It's boring. Really boring. Most students struggle to stay engaged.

That’s where Bridgly was born — an AI-powered, personalized way to make college readiness education engaging, dynamic, and actually fun. We believe learning good habits should spark curiosity, not induce yawns!

🚀 What it does

Bridgly starts by learning about you — your interests, preferences, and study style — through a quick survey.
Then, powered by AI magic, it crafts a customized curriculum just for you, complete with personalized lessons and quizzes. Every module, question, and answer choice feels tailored and relatable.

✨ Plus, Bridgly saves your progress, so you can jump in and out whenever it fits your schedule.

🛠️ How we built it

We built Bridgly as a full-stack web app using:

NextJS for fast, modern frontend development
Auth0 for secure authentication
MongoDB for flexible, scalable database hosting
Shadcn for sleek React UI components
Gemini for dynamic AI content generation

In development, Ramsey led the front-end charge while Ryan architected the back-end powerhouse.
Our survey collects user info, and Gemini dynamically generates meaningful, personalized educational content based on it. 🎯

🧗 Challenges we ran into

Taming Gemini: At first, getting useful, coherent AI-generated lessons was like herding cats. 🐈‍⬛ After lots of trial and error (and some hilarious fails), we crafted the perfect prompt system.
API Rate Limits: We hit Gemini’s limits fast. We had to invent a creative, chunked generation system — meaning the brief loading time after surveys is a feature, not a bug! 🚀

We took a dream and made it real — a working app that delivers personalized, coherent, and impactful learning experiences.
Watching Bridgly generate real, helpful course modules from scratch was nothing short of magical. ✨
