Inspiration

3blue1brown was the inspiration for this application. His style of video are incredibly popular and are enjoyed by millions of people around the world.

What it does

BridgeToGrowth-Learning is a mobile app that creates Manim animations to explain any topic requested by the user within 90 seconds. If the topic is too large to cover in that timeframe, the app will prompt the user to break down their request into smaller subtopics. After the animation is generated the user will be sent a text containing the video.

How we built it

The backend uses FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLALCHEMY gemini api, Manim, and Photon Spectrum TypeScript SDK. The mobile app uses React Native, Expo, TypeScript, Expo Router, TanStack React Query, React Hooks, React Native StyleSheet, Expo SecureStore, REST APIs, Jest, and ESLint, and communicates with the backend api during user authentication, as well as whenever the user sends a request for an animation to be made. The gemini api creates the animation in a containerized Docker environment, and after writing the code for it and rendering it, another instance of the gemini api do an video analysis of the animation and provides feedback to the other instance if there are any changes it needs to make. Photon is used primarily as a means for the user to receive their animation.

Challenges we ran into

The agentic coding tools utilized for this model were sometimes fairly slow at testing the app through the interface.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am incredibly proud of the architecture I designed for the backend, even though it was all at a high level. I am happy that I was able to understand how all the pieces of this software fit together.

What we learned

I learned how to better utilize agentic coding tools, as well as the power of the Photon Spectrum TypeScript SDK.

What's next for BridgeToGrowth-Learning

I will likely try to publish this app on android and iOS, and try to turn it into a business.
