Inspiration

We are inspired by what's possible in the future on-chain. The biggest motivation is to use this new technology to create more freedom for individuals.

What it does

Currently, it tokenizes real estate property. But eventually, after a seller has tokenized their real estate property, they can put it up for sale and earn crypto, then buyers can place multiple bids, and a real estate broker can earn a commission with every transaction they broker. Eventually, users can refer to our ledger to search for titles instead of relying on the government to provide a title search. In the future, we also want users to be able to finance a mortgage through our platform.

How we built it

We started off by solidifying the vision we have for the platform. We created a lean canvas to help with this. We then started to work on the smart contract. Then moved onto brand identity design and UI design. And the last thing we had time for was connecting the contract to the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

We're all new to blockchain development so there was a steep learning curve. We ran into a lot of issues getting the contract running on the backend and then when integrating the contract into the frontend. Our first contract included a lot more functionality, but due to issues we kept running into, we had to start from scratch a day before hackathon submission was due.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finally getting the app working after lots of sleepless frustrating nights.

What we learned

We learned so much. As mentioned above, we are all new to blockchain development so we had to start from scratch. We learned to use The Graph, GraphQL, Apollo, EthersJs, Web3, Kovan and Rinkeby testnets, working with a smart contract and integrating it to a frontend React app.
