Inspiration 💡
Bitcoin is the most secure and battle-tested financial network in the world, yet its everyday usage remains limited due to volatility, slow settlement for payments, and lack of programmability. At the same time, we are entering an era where autonomous AI agents and APIs increasingly interact with each other—but they lack a native, trust-minimized way to exchange value 🤖💸.
We were inspired by the idea that Bitcoin does not need to change its core design to support these use cases. Instead, it needs a usability and payment abstraction layer. BridgePay AI was inspired by the question:
What if Bitcoin could act as the ultimate settlement layer, while stable and programmable money handled daily human and machine transactions? ⚡
What it does 🚀
BridgePay AI is a Bitcoin-backed stable payment system that enables fast, low-volatility payments for both humans and autonomous agents.
Users can lock Bitcoin as collateral to mint a USD-pegged stable asset, enabling:
- 🪙 Everyday payments without Bitcoin price volatility
- 🌍 Cross-border transfers with minimal friction
- 🤝 Programmatic payments between APIs and AI agents
BridgePay AI also introduces HTTP 402–style agent payments, where services can require payment before access, and agents can automatically settle using Bitcoin-secured value 🔐.
How we built it 🛠️
We built BridgePay AI as an end-to-end system with a clear layered architecture:
- 🔒 Bitcoin Layer: Acts as the security and settlement anchor via a collateral vault
- 💵 Stable Payment Layer: Handles minting, balances, and transfers of Bitcoin-backed stable value
- 🤖 Agent Payment Gateway: Implements L402-style payment-required flows for APIs and agents
- 🖥️ Frontend Interface: A dashboard to lock Bitcoin, mint stable assets, send payments, and test agent calls
The system is built using a full-stack TypeScript architecture, optimized for reliability, clarity, and live demos ⚙️.
Challenges we ran into ⚠️
- ⚖️ Designing a stablecoin abstraction that respects Bitcoin’s trust assumptions
- ⏱️ Balancing technical depth with hackathon time constraints
- 🧠 Making agent-to-agent payments intuitive and easy to demonstrate
- 🧱 Ensuring Bitcoin remained the foundation—not just a branding detail
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
- ✅ Built a fully functional Bitcoin-backed payment system end to end
- 🔗 Implemented real HTTP 402 payment flows for agent access
- 🎯 Delivered a working demo that runs reliably under pressure
- 🧩 Designed a clean separation between settlement, payments, and programmability
What we learned 📚
- 🔐 Bitcoin’s security is unmatched, but usability layers drive adoption
- 💡 Stable value abstractions unlock both human and machine economies
- 🤖 Autonomous agents need native payment primitives
- 🧠 Clear architecture beats unnecessary complexity
What's next for BridgePay AI 🔮
- ⚡ Native Bitcoin testnet and Lightning Network integration
- 🧮 Automated collateral and liquidation mechanisms
- 🌐 Decentralized price oracles for stronger stability guarantees
- 🛠️ Developer SDKs for agent-to-agent payments
- 🌍 Expanding BridgePay AI into a universal payment layer for the machine economy
BridgePay AI doesn’t replace Bitcoin.
It unlocks it. ₿
