Inspiration
Our inspiration came from our collective experiences and observations of the challenges immigrants face in accessing essential resources and services in a new country. We were driven by a desire to create a solution that simplifies this process and provides a bridge between immigrants and the resources they need to thrive.
What it does
Bridge is a mobile application designed to streamline access to resources for immigrants. It provides a user-friendly interface where immigrants can easily find information about housing, employment, legal services, language courses, and more. Additionally, Bridge offers features such as community forums and direct messaging to foster connections and support among immigrants.
How we built it
Bridge was built using a combination of modern technologies and frameworks. The frontend of the application was developed using React Native, a popular framework for building cross-platform mobile applications. We utilized Expo Router for navigation within the app and integrated Tanstack Query for efficient data fetching and management. The backend infrastructure was hosted on AWS, providing scalability and reliability. Throughout the development process, we collaborated closely using Figma for design mockups and version control.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of Bridge, we encountered several challenges that tested our problem-solving skills and teamwork. One challenge was getting the proper responses to come back when prompting Google Gemini.

We are proud to have created a solution that addresses a real-world problem and has the potential to make a positive impact on the lives of immigrants. Throughout the development process, we fostered a collaborative and inclusive environment, leveraging each team member's unique skills and perspectives. Our dedication to user-centered design and continuous improvement resulted in a high-quality application that we are excited to share with the world.
What we learned
The development of Bridge provided us with valuable learning experiences that have enriched our skills and knowledge. We gained proficiency in React Native development and learned best practices for building mobile applications. Additionally, we deepened our understanding of cloud computing technologies and honed our ability to work effectively in a remote team setting. Overall, the project has equipped us with valuable insights and lessons that will inform our future endeavors.
What's next for Bridge
Looking ahead, we envision several exciting opportunities to enhance and expand the capabilities of Bridge. We plan to incorporate machine learning algorithms to personalize recommendations and improve user engagement. Additionally, we aim to partner with local organizations and government agencies to further extend the reach of Bridge and ensure its accessibility to all immigrants. By continuously iterating and refining our platform, we are committed to empowering immigrants on their journey to a brighter future.
