Bridge was inspired by a simple but frustrating reality: thousands of young people want to get into technology, but are blocked before they even begin. During research, we found that many existing “solutions” for device access were outdated, expensive, or completely disconnected from the people who actually need them. Most platforms focused only on renting devices, but ignored the bigger issue — access to skills, mentorship, and opportunities.

We wanted to create something that solved the entire journey, not just one part of it. That led to Bridge: a platform combining device access, digital learning, and mentorship into one ecosystem. Users can find donated or refurbished devices near them, follow personalised learning pathways, and connect with real industry mentors. We also expanded the project beyond desktop by building an Apple Watch experience and experimenting with Meta Smart Glasses integration for AI-powered voice interaction and accessibility.

The project was built during the Unihack × Innovation Fest 2026 hackathon using React, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, Node.js, Supabase, Groq API, and Google Maps integrations. We focused heavily on accessibility, responsive design, and creating an experience that felt modern and welcoming rather than corporate or intimidating.

One of the biggest challenges was combining multiple ambitious ideas into one cohesive platform within a short hackathon timeframe. Integrating AI guidance, real-time location features, wearable support, and responsive UI design all at once pushed us technically and creatively. We also spent a lot of time refining the user experience so the platform felt approachable to young people with no technical background.

Through building Bridge, we learned how important accessibility, design, and real-world impact are in technology. More importantly, we learned that innovation is not just about building advanced features — it is about making opportunity reachable for the people who need it most.
