Inspiration
We wanted to make a game about helping others. So, we decided to make our game related to rebuilding after natural disasters. So, Bridge Builder is all about rebuilding bridges after an earthquake.
What it does
The player can gather resources, explore islands, and build different bridges.
How we built it
We built it using the Unity game engine. Some of the assets were made using Blender.
Challenges we ran into
We faced many issues with bugs in our code. Towards the final stages of development, for instance, our project was not able to build. It took a while to fix, but it turned out that one of our assets had a script that stopped the build process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to build and show something in a short period of time, using software that we were not the most familiar with.
What we learned
We learned the overall game development process. We also learned how it is to keep track of all the assets and script (and everything else) in a full-scale video game.
What's next for Bridge Builder
This is a very basic prototype of the idea. The next step for Bridge Builder is to create a more professional and functional game, which provides a captivating experience for the player. Basically, to make the "v1.0" of the game.
