Inspiration

Feeling lost as freshmen because of unfamiliarity with campus. We struggled to figure out what events were happening at a glance. It's a hassle to have to sign into multiple different websites and the UI is so small because it is meant for a computer. We want all the information easily accessible that is also mobile friendly, eye friendly.

What it does

Organizes your class schedule into a calendar. You can add what clubs you are in to have those events in the calendar with your classes. You also have the option to filter for all RIT events happening for the day. On the home page you can see when your next class is and how far you are based on your current location. You can also see the closest, open, dining location and academic building with a study lounge.

How we built it

Built our website with the svelte framework, which includes the html, typescript, and css.

Challenges we ran into

Struggled with programming the functionality. We did not have a back end developer, so the product is strictly the front end of what the website is supposed to look like.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Picking up a language (html and css) that we are unfamiliar with and being able to make a relatively aesthetically please site so quickly. Also being able to work with relatively unfamiliar teammates.

What we learned

The importance of (good) comments in code. The beauty and frustration of git. Teamwork is not hard.

What's next for Brick Planner

Back end code, proper authentication, cleaning up the aesthetic.
