Inspiration
The construction sector is the biggest consumer of raw materials
It is responsible for over 1/3 of global waste (over a billion tonnes annually)
It generates an estimated 39% of carbon emissions (compared to 1-2% from aviation)
What it does
We bring big construction companies and the owners of demolished infrastructure together on our marketplace platform to trade recyclable materials Premium features: AI based picture analysis of the quality of the material, legal advice and a network
How we built it
We used netlify to help us implement and design the front end, and used java to implement the back end.
Challenges we ran into
We had problems with netlify. Some of our changes would not be shown in the site.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Designed an implementation to solve such a huge problem in todays society, such as construction waste. Created a user friendly, easy use website interface. Successfully implemented sorting the products according to their price and quality, also allowing the user to search for a particular type of material or quantity.
What we learned
Learned how to use git. How to create a website and write html files. The process of breaking up a big idea into smaller and more manageable tasks. Dividing the work and working/ coding in a group.
What's next for Brick by Brick
Our next challenge is to create an AI that will be able to analyse a picture and fill in the different properties of the material in the photo.
