Inspiration
As an aspiring group of game developers, we wanted to get our feet wet through making a brick-breaker game using pygame. We chose to code our project through Python in order to gain a grasp on the fundamentals of game-building rather than stressing over language-specific syntax.
What it does
It's a game where you control a paddle. The goal is to break as many bricks as possible and have lots of fun.
How we built it
We primarily used visual studio code and we used the language Python to build our game.
Challenges we ran into
We are just getting our feet wet so there are many aspects of programming that we are unfamiliar with, especially with how physics work in games and simulations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
First of all, we learned the importance of planning and teamwork. Planning goes a long way since not everything will go as smoothly as possible and, because of the lack of planning in this project, we encounter many challenges that we could've avoided. Having built this game, we learned tons about the importance of constructing the right parameters and functions so we can continue developing without running into any errors or lack of features.
What's next for Brick Breaker
We hope that our very first project will be essential to propelling us into the world of real-world game design using Unreal Engine
