Inspiration
What best inspired this project was our love for volleyball. We believed that in order to produce the best project possible, it must be something that we are truly passionate about, and our school's volleyball program was perfect. As there was no previous website, we had to go in completely raw when deciding the design and look of the website.
What it does
The website gives some description about the program, a schedule of upcoming games, current standings, encourages more people to join, and many other things. Overall, the purpose is to increase awareness for the program and gain more support from the entire school. It could also serve as a place where we promote our players in order to have them gain more publicity for college recruiting.
How we built it
By using React, Javascript, and Css, we were able to create this amazing website. Additionally, GitHub was used to share progress and code across our many devices.
Challenges we ran into
There were a couple challenges that we faced while making the website due to our amateur knowledge of coding websites. Things such as making a functioning menu or making the website responsive took some time, but we were able to successfully complete them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The whole website is something that our team is really proud of. Not only do we believe that it looks great, we are also proud of overcoming the challenges that we faced along the way. The website is very functional and can be used by so many different people in order to promote the school's program. The overall student engagement from my school for the team should greatly increase as a result, and that's the main goal.
What we learned
Making things like image sliders and a responsive page are things that we learned how to make and can be used in the future to make our websites look great.
What's next for BRHS Volleyball
BRHS Volleyball is not done yet. We will continue to update the website as the season goes on and in the future as well. Updating features like the schedule to a fully functional calendar or the standings to be automated will take time but can be done. As previously stated, adding a place where our athletes can be promoted in order to increase their chances of getting recruited by college coaches will change the whole landscape of our program and give players more security behind playing at higher levels. The main objective of the website is to promote the program and let folks discover our accomplishments as a team, as well as the obstacles we encounter and how close we are as a group of friends and teammates.
