Inspiration
Our inspiration was our own situation where we sometimes make impulsive decisions and become spontaneous even if we don't have the proper funds. As college students, we should be more careful about the decisions we're making but sometimes we're not sure if our decision is right or wrong based on our finances. That's why we decided to build Breezey to understand how we can better budget and make a decision before actually committing impulsively.
What it does
Breezy gives personalized feedback and provides a financial dashboard for students to track their real time expenses and add in potential upcoming expenses.
How we built it
Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Recharts, Supabase (Auth + Postgres), Google Gemini API, Capital One Nessie API, Photon Spectrum SDK, deployed on Vercel (web) + a persistent Node service (Photon agent).
Challenges we ran into
Integrating Figma and making the code with the frontend, pulling commits because the code doesn't work well, hard to integrate Nessie and Photon in the same project, finding the data to make our webpage work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All college students, including us, have had impulse syndrome and sometimes cave in to expensive group trips and activities without thinking about our finances and upcoming expenses. Breezy takes care of this by predicting a risk score based on your current bank account on money and upcoming expenses and gives you personalized feedback on next steps.
What we learned
We learned about the Photon and how it can read messages. It was a struggle to implement it in the backend so there was a lot of trial and error with the code, but ultimately we got a stronger understanding of what Photon can do for us.
What's next for Breezey
Integrating group chat support because its behind a paywall so we can't access it but financially this is an essential feature that can take Breezey to a new level.
