Inspiration
I was inspired by artists who used Processing to create intricate animated gifs, and also by some breathing exercise gifs for people with anxiety that I've seen floating around the internet. I was interested in combining the artistic aspect of the language with an application for self-care/mental health.
What it does
Displays a gif in calming colors, which expands and contracts at regular intervals, so that the viewer can time their inhalations and exhalations to the movement of the gif.
How I built it
I built In/Out/Octogon using Processing, a programming language with an emphasis on visual arts, at Northwestern University's BuildHer Hackathon.
What I learned
A new programming language! Processing is fairly easy to learn and its visual nature makes it especially fun for beginners and artists.
What's next for In/Out/Polygon
I'd like to make a series of these, using more complicated patterns, that could be interactive/responsive to user input such as mouse clicks or color selection.
