Inspiration

Every year, millions of people around the world suffer from respiratory issues. For those living with asthma, the environment can be a silent enemy—polluted air can trigger life-threatening asthma attacks. In fact, over 300 million people globally have asthma, and air pollution continues to rise as a leading cause of respiratory distress. We hope that no one has to face such a problem. Awareness is the first step toward prevention, and that's exactly where our solution comes in.

What it does

Introducing BreatheEZ, a platform dedicated to helping people take control of their respiratory health. BreatheEZ is here to help you stay informed and breathe easy! Using real-time data from WeatherAPI, our website offers air quality and weather reports. It's perfect for those with asthma or anyone who simply wants to know when it's safe to enjoy the outdoors. We help you make informed decisions about your health! But that's not all! We’ve also added a breathing exercise resource section—complete with calming YouTube videos designed to improve your lung capacity and keep your respiratory system strong.

And now, meet our star—Breathe Bot! Powered by AI, our chatbot is always ready to chat, guide, and even give you tips to better manage your asthma and respiratory health. Got questions? Breathe Bot has answers! We also dive deep into your mood with natural language processing and sentiment analysis. Feeling stressed or anxious? Our system detects it and recommends personalized content to help you relax and breathe easier. Because mental health matters too!

How we built it

Our tech stack brings it all together seamlessly—ReactJS, TailwindCSS, HTML, JavaScript and Vite power our front end with responsive designs and a seamless UI. To ensure smooth operations we utilized Node.js, Express.js, and Axios to power the back-end of the project. The real-time weather and air quality conditions are displayed with the help of a WeatherAPI.

Challenges we ran into

we ran into many challenges including coming up with the idea, streamlining the UI, combining code from different teammates, deploying on vercel, and we tried to even use Wolfram API but we ran into trouble parsing the data we got back from the API so we had to switch to a WeatherAPI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're glad to be able to create an original idea that can help users and if we get the oppurtunity we will try to improve the application so that it can reach a large user base.

What we learned

We learned how to use complex databases and how to design and create a website. we learned to create a log in page and have user authentication with firebase and we learned to create and AI chatbot using chatling.

What's next for BreatheEZ

next we will try to deploy it on mobile, work on the breathing exercises section to make it more interactive, maybe include more information on asthma and respiratory issues people face in order to raise awareness.
