💡 Inspiration
Human life relies on the process of breathing. Breathing is the basic living process on which life depends. With breathing, we inhale air and that is circulated throughout the body so it matters, what are we breathing and how are we breathing. Yet with time and lifestyle, people have forgotten how to breathe properly.
If breathing is taken seriously and done with utter care and consciousness it can benefit the body and can increase the efficiency of everyday life and process. Breathing is a workout in itself for the body
Many people do not breathe properly, and this can cause a range of challenges — from headaches and shortness of breath, to unnecessary anxiety and stress. To breathe properly means to exhale air completely out of the lungs (until they are empty) and to inhale air deeply enough that the air fills the lungs completely. The abdomen (not the shoulders) should move in and out as you breathe. This proper breathing process is essential for getting enough oxygen in each breath cycle.
🤳 What it does
Breathe.ly gamifies teaching the right way to breathe. Simple yet intuitive animation helps users to follow the right process and practice Box-Breathing. Users get scores on the basis of the number of rounds they complete and also get recommendations on the basis of their breathing pattern.
⚙️ How we built it
I built it using Flutter, a cross-platform app development framework by Google that allows us to use the same codebase to develop apps for iOS, Android, web platforms. I used various packages and trained the TensorFlow Lite model that classifies audio (breathing and background noise) and then captures amplitudes of breathing patterns (inhale, exhale) which are then used to do the analysis of the pattern.
🏅 Accomplishments
Though I started a bit late(literally 8 hours before the deadline), I still managed to quickly get a lot done. And I am proud of making Breathe.ly.
🤔 Challenges we ran into
I began with some structural ideas on Figma and then started implementing them on Flutter. Despite the limited amount of time, I managed to make a working app and am proud of what I created :)
🤔 What did we learn:
I learned a lot about different packages, the implementation of the TensorFlow Lite model for audio classification, and other stuff.
💭 What's next for Breathe.ly:
More exercises, tips, and recommendations for our users.
