Inspiration
After spending an entire month mastering Bolt.new and discovering the power of prompt-based programming, I've learned more than I ever imagined possible. My primary hackathon project focused on mindfulness, which I submitted earlier today, but this One-Shot Challenge kept nagging at me. With less than two hours left before the deadline, inspiration struck - what if I could create the simplest possible guided breathing meditation website that works instantly on any device? No complexity, no barriers, just pure accessibility to mindfulness for everyone.
What it does
Breathe is an elegantly simple guided breathing meditation website that transforms any screen into a personal mindfulness sanctuary. It features intuitive visual breathing guides with gentle animations that sync perfectly with your breath rhythm, customizable session lengths for quick breaks or deeper practice, and multiple breathing techniques including the calming 4-7-8 method, structured box breathing, and simple in-out cycles. The magic is in its simplicity - no downloads, no sign-ups, no complexity - just instant access to stress relief and relaxation that works beautifully on everything from smartphones to desktop computers.
How I built it
The entire project was crafted with a single, carefully composed prompt to Bolt.new, accompanied by inspirational design references and the Bolt logo for visual guidance. This was the ultimate test of prompt engineering - conveying the complete vision, functionality, user experience, and aesthetic in one perfectly structured request that Bolt could execute flawlessly.
Challenges I ran into
Making a complete, polished application work from just one prompt was incredibly challenging! It required multiple attempts and precise tweaking to get the prompt structure exactly right so Bolt would understand not just what I wanted, but how it should look, feel, and function. Every word in the prompt had to earn its place - too vague and the result would be generic, too specific and it might miss the overall vision. The pressure of the approaching deadline made each iteration even more intense.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Refusing to give up even with less than 2 hours until deadline and successfully creating a fully functional, beautiful meditation app from a single prompt! This project proves that with the right approach, prompt-based development can produce professional-quality applications incredibly quickly. I'm especially proud of achieving that perfect balance of simplicity and functionality that makes mindfulness truly accessible to everyone.
What I learned
This challenge dramatically fine-tuned my prompt composition abilities and taught me the art of conveying complete project visions concisely. I learned that the most powerful prompts aren't necessarily the longest ones, but the most thoughtfully structured ones. The experience also reinforced that sometimes the best solutions are the simplest ones - removing barriers rather than adding features.
What's next for Breathe
I envision expanding Breathe with additional breathing techniques like alternate nostril breathing and coherent breathing patterns, while maintaining its core simplicity. Future enhancements could include subtle ambient soundscapes, gentle progress tracking for regular practitioners, and the ability to create personalized breathing patterns. I'd love to add haptic feedback for mobile devices and perhaps a minimalist stats dashboard to encourage consistent practice. The ultimate goal remains unchanged: keeping it beautifully simple while making it the go-to tool for anyone needing an instant mindfulness moment, anywhere, anytime.
