Inspiration
During COVID, I felt the need of how Pranayama is very important for a healthy body. People find it very difficult to practice it. But today everyone has a smartphone. So I decided that we can silent but strong animations that can help people with doing simple pranayama and breathing exercises.
What it does
It is a very simple app for now. This is the first version. Currently it has 5 body and 5 mind related issues that are faced generally by the public all over the world. For every problem, we have unique Pranayamic exercise, that can be practiced using animations. Further, it also lists extra benefits for that particular Pranayama.
How we built it
I have built it using React Native and animations have been made using a Pencil Editor.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges were how to run simple animations in an apk file. The problem of pause and resume is still there. Giving videos in app was increasing the app size too much, so for now we have used animations in loop.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finally, this app has been launched on Google Play Store and already has 20 users.
What we learned
I was doing this project alone, so had several problems. Funding issues and so on.. But I learnt the art of mobile app development and creating animations from scratch.
What's next for Breath Yoga
Now I and my friend have decided to collaborate and add ML Face Detection techniques to improve the UI and UX and more accurate results.
