Inspiration

To help create a healthier tomorrow by creating a community that helps create awareness and fight breast cancer together at an early stage

What it does

Through our solution, ‘Breasty’, we are targeting women and men of the age of 25 -50. Women who are so busy, in their routine which involves work, taking care of family members, doing their daily chores and much more, don’t get any time to consider their own wellbeing. Making women more kind and caring to themselves and their body is a key factor of our solution.

How we built it

Breasty is a stress ball integrated with a QR code which connects them to an App. The way the women are given the stress ball is such that it is integrated in their daily routine (like while online shopping, or going to the supermarket for groceries etc.) so they notice the product and do not ignore it. On using the stress ball, the women notice a hard lump inside and realizes it’s not an ordinary stress ball and is intrigued while discovering that it is an indication for early sign of breast cancer. This encourages them to use the app, where Breasty will guide them with ways to self-examine, healthy lifestyle choices and can keep reminders for examinations and consultations. They can connect to a larger community of likeminded women and share their experiences and suggestions for a healthy life. And she can donate to women and men fighting breast cancer for which receives a token of appreciation from those who have benefitted from her contribution. Breasty also provides a volunteering platform to reach out to women and men from rural regions near their location and educate them on breast cancer and methods of preventions. There is also printable material library in various languages to share with others.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding Breast cancer in a rural and urban Indian context where it is considered a taboo and people donot prefer to consult doctors. Creating a system and product that people will not only use but recommend and encourage others to use was a big challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully creating a systematic approach to understand, self check and fight breast cancer by community building and active participation by the users. Encouraging people to not only self asses but also teach the importance of self examination and early detection of breast cancer that could be life saving.

What we learned

Sensitive community issues like breast cancer needs to be dealt delicately and people should understand the importance of spreading awareness, as we are human beings and should care for one another.

What's next for Breasty by Pink Panthers

The core aim of Breasty is to give women a platform to reach out and make an impact on as many women as they can by encouraging them to give a moment to their breast, body and to priorities their wellbeing.
