Inspiration & Problem
Breast cancer is a global health issue that affects women of all ages and countries. Here are some of the challenges of breast cancer globally. Incidence and mortality in 2022, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 670,000 died. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer death in females worldwide. Breast cancer incidence and mortality rates vary by country and region. For example, in countries with a high Human Development Index (HDI), 1 in 12 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, while in countries with a low HDI, 1 in 27 women will be diagnosed. The likelihood of an advanced disease is higher in rural areas, under-deserved areas, and among socio-economic disadvantaged communities. The COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted efforts to diagnose breast cancer and complicated patient access to health care systems. Educate the public about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and risk reduction strategies. Reduce delays between when a patient first interacts with the health system and when they start treatment. Provide access to surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and rehabilitation support.
What it does
A fast, cheap and reliable application to diagnose breast cancer, just upload an image or take a picture of your clinical mammograph and it'll let you know the risk of breast cancer.
How we built it
We built it harnessing the power of Microsoft's Cloud Azure. Two apps for two audiences. 1- Mobile Apps for consumers. 2- Web App for organizations like Hospitals.
Challenges we ran into
Collecting dataset of high-quality images was a huge challenge, we consulted with Precision Medicine Lab, Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar they helped us in data acquisition.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We emerged as the national finals of Microsoft Imagine Cup & won a local hackathon from Ministry of IT & Telcom, Pakistan.
What we learned
Cloud can reduce almost 10 times the time to market of a production grade application.
What's next for Breast Cancer
Launching it to the commercial market soon so, we start clinical trials.
