Inspiration
I was deeply inspired to take action after my mother was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Initially, our family felt lost and unsure of how to navigate this challenging journey, as we had no history of breast cancer and few close friends who had faced it themselves. We struggled to find reliable advice and support during this difficult time.
Motivated by this experience, I decided to build this website to help others who find themselves in similar situations—providing them with the guidance and support they need to make informed decisions and connect with the right resources.
What it does
This website offers comprehensive information on different types of breast cancer, guidance on next steps for those diagnosed, and valuable advice from individuals who have personally experienced breast cancer. It also provides easy access to a QR code that allows users to join a supportive breast cancer community, connecting them with others who understand their journey.
How we built it
I built the website using HTML and CSS in Visual Studio Code. My skills in HTML and CSS were self-taught through online resources, including YouTube tutorials and articles. Some features I included are buttons, a search bar, and images. In addition, I incorporated valuable advice from individuals I discovered online, as well as insights from people within my own family network who have firsthand experience with breast cancer.
Challenges we ran into
I initially faced challenges in making the website visually appealing. However, after learning CSS and experimenting with color adjustments, I gradually gained confidence and developed a design that I was proud of.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I take pride in successfully implementing an efficient search bar and ensuring the buttons function seamlessly. Additionally, I'm proud of designing a website that is both highly user-friendly and informative, creating a smooth and engaging experience for users.
What we learned
I gained valuable experience in building an informative and visually appealing website using HTML and CSS, as well as designing interactive buttons and other user interface elements to enhance functionality and user engagement.
