This app aims to help people change their relationship with social media by having them critically engage with the content they view. When I was little I loved TV shows, I’d write fan fiction about them, analyze details in them and theorize about what would be coming next. Now, as an adult I still spend most of my time consuming content but I no longer engage with it. I found that I rarely even remember what I had seen on social media. Looking at the literature, I have found that social media has worsened youths’ skills in critically evaluating information. These youth need support to learn how to critically think about information on the internet. However, cultural and socioeconomic factors can make it harder for teens to access resources. [Farida and Rizalman, 2025] Many projects to improve people’s relationships with social media center themselves around reducing social media use. However, social media can improve other aspects of media literacy and help connect people [Farida and Rizalman, 2025]. So, reduction is not always the most beneficial option. Instead we aim to improve users’ relationships with these apps.
