Inspiration

As a student, my transition to taking online classes has significantly increased my time spent looking at computer screens. This poses many health threats such as eye strain or bad posture. I knew that microbreaks was something I should be taking more often but I never could get around to doing them.

What it does

The program allows the user to set reminders to take breaks from computer work/screen time. These microbreaks are very effective preventative behaviors against digital eye strain, bad posture, muscle/joint pain, stress and loss of productivity. During these breaks, it is suggested to follow the 20-20-20 rule, stretch, do breathing exercises or just have a regular break.

How I built it

Using PySimpleGUIQt, I built a simple and intuitive user interface in Python which allows the user to customize or enable/disable reminders.

Challenges I ran into

Working alone at my first hackathon was challenging and definitely limited how many features I could implement due to time constraints especially as I had many important deadlines during this very weekend. It is a shame since I had so many bright ideas for this project which was not realized.

This project is still in its very early stages and has many potential features that could be added.
