Inspiration

Contracts are written to keep people in. But what if AI could help you find a legal way out? That’s the core idea behind Break My Contract — an app that scans your contract and tells you how to escape it, fast.

What it does

Break My Contract uses Google Gemini to analyze uploaded PDF contracts and generate a step-by-step legal exit strategy. It finds built-in clauses, weak points, negotiation tactics, and gives you a risk level score — all in seconds.

How we built it

This entire app was built using one single prompt in Bolt.new. It generated the layout, logic, styling, and all components in one go. The only post-prompt edits were bug fixes (PDF worker import, OCR config, minor dependency adjustments). No new features were added manually — One-Shot rules followed exactly.

Challenges we ran into

The PDF worker setup required tweaking to work properly with Vite. OCR fallback handling had to be gracefully integrated to support image-based contracts. Also, making sure everything ran without adding features beyond the one prompt took a lot of discipline.

  • ✅ Passed the One-Shot compliance test: no features added beyond the initial Bolt.new generation
  • ✅ Finished it in time for the world’s biggest hackathon with no prior setup, repo, or boilerplate

What we learned

You can actually build a polished, real-world utility app in a single prompt — if you plan your prompt like a spec doc. And Bolt’s generative system can take it way farther than I expected. This build taught me that one shot is all it takes... if you don’t waste it.
