Inspiration

Hackerrank website - a lot of components were taken out of it

What it does

Reminds the user to take a break every x minutes which provides a clickable link out of a list of websites which the user provides in their account. Accounts are separable.

How we built it

MERN stack: MongoDB, Express, React, NodeJS

Challenges we ran into

Web-hosting the site, connecting to DB

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finishing the project and having its quality much better than any of our past projects

What we learned

Importance of a tech stack, more git commands, more functionalities in React and front end in general

What's next for Break From Home by Bits&Giggles

Implement a manager/employee functionality where managers can assign breaks to employees

After several months of repetitively working and studying from home, many people including our team themselves have faced the problem of losing track of time. This leads to mental strain of working several hours on end, resulting in decreased productivity. “Break From Home” is a web application that reminds a user to take a break. It allows oneself to refresh their mind, aiming to increase productivity whilst decreasing mental strain. The web application is based on a Pomodoro style alarm which utilizes the user’s favorite websites to release stress or just for pure entertainment. After a set interval of working time, it provides the links to your previously set favorite websites for your pleasure to take a break. Everything from the length of work time to the length of break time is customizable.
