Inspiration
We wanted to combine the shared challenge of daily games with tactical lane combat and roguelike deckbuilding.
What it does
Breachline gives everyone the same daily arsenal and five-wave challenge. Players draft four cards, deploy troops using mana, upgrade between waves, and compare scores on a daily leaderboard.
How we built it
We used Devvit Web, Phaser, TypeScript, Vite, Hono, and Redis. Phaser handles combat and visuals, while Devvit manages daily posts, attempts, comments, checkpoints, and leaderboards.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenges were making strategy gameplay readable on mobile and desktop, stabilizing unit combat, and balancing distinct troop roles across daily decks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a complete five-wave daily run with animated troops, tactical upgrades, responsive controls, automatic posts, result comments, and community leaderboards.
What we learned
We learned that a strong daily game needs clear scoring, limited retries, meaningful choices, and a simple way for players to discuss their results.
What's next for Breachline
Next we plan to improve onboarding, add community statistics and challenge modifiers, and eventually introduce an optional endless mode and even more card (troops, spells and relic powerups).
