Brawl Champions aims to revolutionize the prediction marketplace by leveraging the Near network to provide a decentralized and trustless platform for users to bet on the outcomes of major events. Initially, the platform will offer pre-made brawls (bets) on significant events like political outcomes or sports matches. As users advance through the platform’s levels, they will gain the ability to create their brawls, fostering a community-driven ecosystem.
By offering a dual-token approach, users can place bets using either BRAWLS, an in-game currency that will eventually be tokenized on Near, or the native Near token. This mix provides a seamless onboarding experience while providing a robust, blockchain-based betting infrastructure.
Brawl Champion aims to improve the overall user experience in prediction markets, which traditionally suffer from poor interfaces, high gas fees, and slow resolution times due to purely on-chain interactions. By offloading initial user interactions and storing transactions off-chain, we eliminate these hurdles, reducing friction for new users. Only after a series of bets is data periodically updated on-chain to maintain security and integrity.
Additionally, blockchain integration ensures that all bets are immutable and tamper-proof, while a robust dispute resolution mechanism offers transparency and fairness.
Inspiration:
We were inspired by the potential of decentralized systems to bring transparency and fairness to betting markets. Current platforms suffer from high fees, slow transactions, and disputes. We envisioned a seamless, community-driven platform that solves these issues, making it easier for users to predict and bet with confidence.
What We Learned:
Throughout the development, we learned the importance of balancing user experience with blockchain's decentralized nature. Simplifying interactions without sacrificing security was challenging but essential to ensure mass adoption. We also deepened our understanding of off-chain vs. on-chain mechanics for scalable solutions.
How We Built It:
We built Brawl Champion using smart contracts on the Near network, focusing on creating an off-chain system that stores user interactions, while periodically updating bets on-chain. This approach enhances user experience by avoiding constant transaction signing and reducing gas fees. We designed intuitive front-end interfaces to ensure smooth onboarding for users unfamiliar with blockchain.
Challenges:
One of the biggest challenges was optimizing user experience without compromising decentralization. Building a seamless off-chain transaction system while ensuring security through periodic on-chain updates required extensive testing and refinement. Managing dispute resolution in a decentralized environment was also a complex task we carefully addressed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to build out the complete platform within a few weeks from a concept to an actual platform. We also learnt a lot of tech around Near infrastructure for the first time.
What's next for Brawls Champion
Tokenize BRAWLS as a fungible token (FT) on NEAR, integrate an in-game wallet for direct on-chain betting. In the future, we plan to introduce an in-game wallet that further integrates on-chain functionality, allowing all transactions to occur directly on-chain without sacrificing user experience.
